SCI Co-CEOs Tim Whitehill and Zoe Brooke recently joined construction industry leaders at a BE News roundtable, sponsored by The Save Construction Initiative and Begbies Traynor Group, to explore what lessons can be learned from the collapse of ISG and how the industry can build greater organisational resilience.
The discussion examined the ongoing insolvency crisis facing the construction sector, with participants highlighting the challenges of low margins, rising costs, poor payment practices and increasing project complexity. Panellists also explored the role of responsible procurement, collaboration and early supply chain engagement in creating a more sustainable industry model.
The roundtable reinforced a clear message: preventing future failures like ISG will require better decision-making, stronger financial resilience and a collective willingness to challenge long-standing behaviours that no longer serve the industry.
For SCI, the conversation highlighted the importance of continuing to champion collaboration, innovation and systemic change to help create a fairer, more resilient and more sustainable construction sector for the future.
