SCI Receives UKREiiF Recognition Award

UKREiiF Award SCI

We are incredibly proud and deeply honoured to share that Save Construction Initiative (SCI) has received a UKREiiF Recognition Award for our work, delivered in partnership with F&T Terrix, through the Accelerated Skills Training Zone at UKREiiF in Leeds.

The award itself came as a complete surprise and to say our jaw hit the floor is no understatement.

When it finally became clear that this was a recognition of the work undertaken by SCI, F&T Terrix and our local authority partners, the shock quickly turned to immense pride and gratitude.

This award represents something far bigger than an organisation, a project or any one individual.

It belongs to everyone who helped bring the Accelerated Skills Training Zone to life. The tutors who shared their expertise. The volunteers who gave their time. The local authorities who supported the programme. The colleges who embraced the opportunity. The UKREiiF team who believed in the vision. And, of course, our valued partners at F&T Terrix, whose commitment helped make the programme a reality. (Richard Coffey & Caroline Grindod)

Most importantly, this award belongs to the young care leavers who took part.

Together, we demonstrated what can be achieved when industry, education and public sector partners unite behind a common purpose. We created opportunities, opened doors and showcased the breadth of careers available across our sector.

At SCI, we have never set out to win awards or gain recognition. Our mission under the banner of “Not just men & muddy boots” has always been simple: positively promote our sector, to support people, (young, old and somewhere in the middle!)  build confidence, create pathways into employment and challenge outdated perceptions of construction. Through our “Not Just Men & Muddy Boots” message, we continue to champion a more inclusive, diverse and inspiring view of our industry.

To have this work recognised by UKREiiF is both humbling and incredibly meaningful.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the Accelerated Skills Training Zone. Your passion, commitment and collaboration made this achievement possible.

This award may bear SCI’s name, but it belongs to every person and organisation that played a part in making a difference.

From all of us at Save Construction Initiative, and F&T Terrix thank you for believing in our mission and helping us create opportunities for the next generation. This has just spurned us on to do more.
