About National Mental Health Awareness Week
National Mental Health Awareness Week, observed from 12-18th May 2025, is an annual event dedicated to promoting mental health advocacy and education. The week aims to:
- Raise Awareness: Highlight the importance of mental health and encourage open conversations about mental health issues.
- Reduce Stigma: Combat the stigma associated with mental health conditions, making it easier for people to seek help.
- Educate the Public: Provide information on various mental health conditions and the resources available for support.
- Support Initiatives: Promote initiatives and programs that support mental health and well-being.
The event is organised by the Mental Health Foundation in the UK and has grown to become one of the largest awareness campaigns globally. It’s a time for individuals and communities to come together, share experiences, and support each other in achieving good mental health.
Tim Whitehill, Co-CEO of The Save Construction Initiative, said: "National Mental Health Awareness Week is crucial for the construction industry. It provides an opportunity to shine a light on the mental health challenges faced by our workforce and to promote the resources and support available. By fostering open conversations and reducing stigma, we can create a healthier, more resilient industry where mental health is prioritized alongside physical safety."
